Looking For The Right Stuff
A look at some of the interesting features created by vines twisting and pulling at saplings as they matured into trees. The goal is to find wood that's lightweight and strong. Finding pretty wood that's aso the right size and shape is quite a challenge, which often requires miles of hiking. What might at first appear to be an unacceptable piece of wood frequently turns out to be beautiful after the bark is removed. (Photos ©2009 Al & Patt Harris)
